Julie's Gluten Free Fish Pie


We love sharing recipes, especially recipes created using The Spice Peddler range of spice blends! This delicious gluten free fish pie showcasing The Spice Peddler's Middle Harbour Seasoning was created by Julie from Sydney.

Julie works full time and has two children. She has very little time to be creative with cooking and has a Coeliac son, so she wants to use good quality, whole food ingredients as often as possible when it is her turn to cook. The Spice Peddler products make simple food taste amazing, so she is a convert!

Serves 4


600g assorted fish (a combination of white fish and salmon is ideal)

400ml milk, plus a little more if required

100g butter

2 generous teaspoons of Spice Peddler's Middle Harbour Seasoning

1.5kg potoatoes

1 cup frozen peas

1 tablespoon gluten free flour

1 cup grated cheese, preferably a mix of assorted cheeses

1 tablespoon olive oil


Preheat the oven to 180C

Peel and cook the potatoes in a large saucepan, set aside

Rub the olive oil and 1 teaspoon of the Middle Harbour seasoning over the fish and place in a baking dish.  Cover with 200ml of milk

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the oven for approximately 15 minutes (or until the fish is flaky). Set aside.

In a saucepan, melt 50g butter over a gentle heat and add the flour, stirring constantly. Add 150ml of milk and stir until the sauce has thickened.

Add the fish (including the milk mixture) and frozen peas and transfer to the baking dish.

Mash the potatoes with the remaining milk, butter and 1 teaspoon of the Middle Harbour seasoning, and spread the mash over the top of the fish mixture.

Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top and bake in the oven at 180C for 20 - 25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.

Enjoy with a side serving of fresh steamed vegetables.
